Festival Of Voices - The Tasmanian Songbook Project

This year’s Festival of Voices sees the beginning of a special project where we’ll amplify the legacy of Tasmanian songs and songwriters that are a part of our cultural soundscape and history. Musical Director, Scott Targett, has assembled a stellar line-up of performers to celebrate our ever-evolving Tasmanian songbook. You will hear both familiar and forgotten songs that were part of our lives spanning over five decades, as well as more recent work from our rising stars.

The 2021 Warrnambool Storytelling Festival will bring together some of the south-west’s most talented storytellers, teachers and entertainers to tell captivating, thought-provoking and meaningful stories reflecting our rich, diverse community. Come to the Launch and find out about the great line up of events for the first incarnation of the festival, learn about storytelling, see a few snippets. The 2020 Festival will exemplify the great folk/roots traditions of many cultures, regions, communities and countries – from Ireland to Port Fairy, Johannesburg to New Orleans, Prince Edward Island to Northcote, Celtic to Bluegrass, Indigenous to Latin and glorious folk fusions. 2020 will once again be a splendid mix of brilliant music, great conversations, workshops, collaborations and surprises.

For tens of thousands of years the Pyipgil Gunditj clan has gathered in ceremony on this country. For the past 43 years the Port Fairy Folk Festival has been celebrated each year in the land of the Pyipgil Gundji clans, in Peek Whurrong country.

The Port Fairy Folk Festival pays their respects to elders past, present and emerging and acknowledges that the land we gather on each year for the Festival is the traditional lands of the Peek Whurrong people.
